Hello! I'm Eleni aka Georgie's mummy

My Story

About me

Hello! My name is Eleni and I am Georgie’s mummy. I was born and raised in London where I enjoyed a loving and slightly nomadic childhood. According to my dad every home was a project so my sister and I grew up surrounded by rolls of wallpaper and stacks of bricks. My favourite space we called home was the attic of a retirement home my parents ran. When I was ten years old, my parents, sister, baby brother and I finally settled down when we moved to Cyprus. Once here, three more siblings were added to our family and we created a noisy but beautiful life on the sunny Mediterranean island. I live on the outskirts of the capital city, Nicosia with my handsome man and our three boys Georgie, James and Danny.

About the blog

This blog was created in 2011 when I made the big decision to quit my job as a feature writer for a newspaper in Nicosia and become a stay-at-home mummy. In the beginning I considered this blog to be a space where I could ‘store’ memories of Georgie and my life as a new mother. Georgie’s Mummy was about me and just for me.

As my boy grew and changed with each passing day, I was faced with how complicated, intense, satisfying, terrifying and exciting motherhood can be. Unexpectedly, it fascinated me and still does. Every aspect of it. At first, I took a great interest in sleeping and eating habits as Georgie was a ‘restless’ baby. I pored over books and blogs taking inspiration from mothers all around the world, going through my own trials and errors and eventually writing about my experiences which were warmly welcomed, especially by the local community of mothers. I love researching and writing about things that can bring happiness, health and peace to my life and hope, through this blog, to inspire others to do the same.

There’s a mixture of lifestyle topics on this blog, some of it not parenting-related in any way but it’s stuff that interests me and I feel the need to occasionally tell people about. Movies, books, music, documentaries and current issues all pop up from time to time.

I am passionate about supporting small businesses, especially local ones and those that are run by mums. I feel blessed that many of these local businesses have chosen this little corner of the internet to talk about their work and what they have to offer. There is plenty to discover on the blog if you’re looking into visiting Cyprus or if you just want to know what’s around the corner. And if YOU own a rad small business, please contact me.

Other than blogging and raising three little ones, I like to spend whatever time I have left at the end of the day to do some reading, cooking, maybe baking and definitely watching reruns of my favourite tv shows.
